S字型の大運河が街を大きく2分し、その川縁には旧貴族たちの洋館が建ち並ぶ。
川縁が街の中心であり、一等地だった。
その昔、日本にも水都・大阪があった。

経済発展によって豊かになった一方で水都の面影は暗渠に閉ざされてしまった。
今年になって、水と生きる街大阪を復興させようとするイベントも大々的に催された。
水のある生活がもたらす豊かさは誰しもがイメージできることだろう。

今更、大阪の町に水路をめぐらせるわけにはいかないが、

世界レベルでの成功をもたらせて欲しい。

そのためには、すぐれた建築家が多くの関わりを持てるかにかかっている。

A big canal in the shape of "S" divides the city into two large sections, and, on the riverside, former nobles' houses are standing in an array, and that place is a center of the city and used to be a first class living area.
Even in Japan, at one time in the past, there was a water capital Osaka.
Along with the economic development, everything in Osaka became rich ,on the other hand, the scene of water city was concealed by culverts.
And yet, for the first time this year, a big event to revive Osaka to be a city living with water was carried out on the large scale.
The richness that the living with water produces can easily be imaged by anybody.
For now, we no longer can set up a network of waterways all over Osaka but we at least want the city to succeed in its restoration at world's high level.
In order to promote the plan, it depends on how those excellent architects take part in that project.
