KIKUGETUTEI  [ Sep 8 by AO ]

One of characteristic of Japanese architecture shows a half outdoor space like an engawa.(Japanese veranda)
The border between inside and outside of the house is vague comparing with that of western countries, therefore the relationship of inside and outside made by putting several layers of delicate partitions.
It can be said, Kikugetsutei (tea house) in The Rinritsu garden in Takamatsu city is the ultimate of the characteristic of Japanese architecture.
When amado (a rain shutter door) and shoji (Japanese paper covered sliding door) are opened wide, the garden now appears to spread to three directions, combining the inner space of the house and the garden into one space.
This architecture is full of attraction of architecture such as a sharp roof, decorous proportion, reliable scale, good suit of frame excluding door storage case etc.
Since the management of these facilities is good, not putting on airs on the pretext of preservation every room is opened wide which has such a placidity as letting us to feel just like lying down.
This is the quite luxury place where we can stand for a while in its garden where has taken over one hundred years to build up.
